Abstract:
The invention relates to a composite cord (10) for reinforcement of elastomers comprising a core (12) of a high polymer material, a first layer of steel filaments (14) twisted around said core and a second layer of steel filaments (16) twisted around said first layer. The polymer material is present in a sufficient volume to create gaps between adjacent filaments of the first layer and possibly also between the filaments of the second layer. The composite cord is characterised by a decreased fretting of the steel filaments.

Extruded polymeric rod (7) is elongated in the solid state by being drawn through a forming device (4) to produce a solid polymeric core (8) having an orientated structure which comprises elongated crystals orientated in the axial direction of the core (8). The core may also comprise crystals additionally orientated in respective radial directions (23). The single rod may be replaced by a bundle of rods.
Abstract:
A rope with high stiffness and breaking strength is provided. The rope is produced by providing a stiff core (1) and fibre rope jacket (4) surrounding the core and by changing the phase condition of the core while stretching the rope, such that inside vacancies between the fibre rope jacket (4) and the core (1)are eliminated permanently. A method and apparatus for producing such rope are provided, wherein the core (1) is heated up and stretched such that it will be permanently elongated. In a preferred embodiment the thermoplastic core (1) changes from solid phase to liquid phase by means of heating. While in liquid phase the core material adapts to the encapsulating space of the surrounding sheet. The rope is then cooled down under tension until the core has returned to solid phase.

An improved top down furling system includes one or more improved components. A lower rotary drive unit with a rotary tack swivel rotates against a fixed portion of the furler, or is configured to permit routing of the tack line below the unit. The system may include an anti-torsion cable constructed in a manner so as to be able to transmit torque without excessive tension applied to the cable. The system also may include an end terminal of the anti-torsion cable having a quick side mount or bayonet type connection to the rotary drive unit.

Bei einem Drahtseil mit wenigstens einer Kunststoffseele (11) und mehreren um diese herum verseilten Drahtlitzen (15) ist am Umfang der Kunststoffseele (11) für jede Drahtlitze (15) jeweils eine wendelförmige Nut (20) durch spanabhebende Bearbeitung erzeugt. Diese wendelförmigen Nuten (20) sind im Querschnitt jeweils dem Aussendurchmesser der Drahtlitzen (15) angepasst. Die Kunststoffseele (11) wird unmittelbar bevor die Drahtlitzen (15) auf diese aufgewickelt werden durch diese spanabhebende Bearbeitung mit den wendelförmigen Nuten (20) für die Aufnahme der Drahtlitzen (15) versehen. Durch diese Ausbildung des Drahtseils mit dieser spanabhebenden Bearbeitung zur Erzeugung von wendelförmigen Nuten der Kunststoffseele wird eine optimale Führung der Drahtlitzen im verseilten Zustand erzielt und damit entstehen Verbesserungen der Eigenschaften des Drahtseils insgesamt.
