Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a tribo-electric powder spray gun for tribo-electrically charging powder by providing the spray gun with a charging block for frictionally charging the powder while the powder passes through an annular spacing and a sprayhead of a charging block outlet for dosing the charged powder. CONSTITUTION: The outside diameter of an inner wear sleeve 38 increases overall in the same position as the position in a longitudinal direction where the bore of an outer wear sleeve 40 decreases and the outside diameter of the inner wear sleeve 38 decreases overall in the same position as the position in the longitudinal direction where the bore of an outer wear sleeve 40 increases and, therefore, a narrow flow passages of a wave shape is formed for the powder by the annular spacing 46 between the sleeves 38 and 40. While the powder mixed with the diffuser air coming from a diffuser nozzle 28 flows through the annular spacing 46, the powder comes into contact repetitively with the inner and outer wear sleeve 38 and 40, by which the powder is frictionally charged by the charging portion 26 and the charged powder is dosed to the sprayhead 17 existing in the outlet of the charging portion 26.

Abstract: The spray mist is produced by ejecting the liquid from one or more nozzles (1) in the form of jets (2) disintegrating into drops and the liquid formed from the drops is then conveyed to a spray system (4) which is electrically insulated from the nozzles (1) and a powerful electric field is applied between the nozzles (1) and the spray system (4). A spherical impact electrode or a two-material spray nozzle insulated against earth under a high voltage may be used as spray system. The main advantage is that the smooth jet nozzle (1) and hence also the container for the liquid to be sprayed are at earth potential.
