Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms capable of decomposing waste oil containing the oils and fats discharged from a business establishment such as a restaurant, etc., and waste oil, oils and fats components and organic waste materials in discharged water, and a method for treating discharged water and a method for deodorizing a bad smell by using the same. SOLUTION: The waste oil such as the oils and fats in the discharged water is decomposed by utilizing the oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms. As the oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms decomposing the waste oil such as the oils and fats, new oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms belonging to the genus Sphingomonas and/or Nocardia, and also a mixture of a strain belonging to the genus Nocardia with a strain belonging to the genus Sphingomonas and/or Microbacterium and/or Bacillus can be used. The method for decomposing the waste oil such as the oils and fats and the method for deodorizing the bad smell by using such the microorganisms or a mixture of them are also provided.
