SOLUTION: The waste oil such as the oils and fats in the discharged water is decomposed by utilizing the oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms. As the oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms decomposing the waste oil such as the oils and fats, new oils and fats-assimilating microorganisms belonging to the genus Sphingomonas and/or Nocardia, and also a mixture of a strain belonging to the genus Nocardia with a strain belonging to the genus Sphingomonas and/or Microbacterium and/or Bacillus can be used. The method for decomposing the waste oil such as the oils and fats and the method for deodorizing the bad smell by using such the microorganisms or a mixture of them are also provided. The method for decomposing a waste oil and oils and fats by using a tank for decomposing a waste oil and oils and fats comprises using the bacterial mixture. The method for efficiently decomposing a waste oil and oil and fat components in wastewater containing the waste oil and oils and fats comprises utilizing the bacterial mixture and a grease trap. Further, the method for controlling a smell comprises decomposing organic substances in a combined septic tank by using the bacterial mixture.
