Abstract: The present invention relates to a water extract of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr and, more specifically, to a water extract of Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr having a substantive effect against diabetes by augmenting activation of glucokinase, pyruvate dehydrogenase, and acetyl CoA carboxylase while suppressing α-glucosidase activity.
