    Abstract: Method and apparatus for converting the kinetic energy of a moving fluid stream into useful work by using a cascade of thin aero of hydro foils (2) positioned therein. The foils may be provided with at least two degrees of freedom and adjacent foils move out of phase. The foils are subjected to fluid induced oscillations known as flutter. Barriers (3, 43) may be positioned downstream, above, or at the sides of the apparatus for increasing efficiency. A system of fly wheels (17, 18) to increase inertia of the foils may be used with the hydrofoils. A cascade of aero of hydro foils may be mechanically oscillated.

    Abstract: Procede et dispositif de conversion de l'energie cinetique d'un courant d'un fluide en mouvement en travail utile au moyen de profils aerodynamiques minces (181-1810) montes en cascade et positionnes dans le courant. Dans une realisation, les profils aerodynamiques presentent au moins deux degres de liberte et les profils aerodynamiques adjacents peuvent etre deplaces hors phase. Les profils sont soumis aux oscillations induites aerodynamiquement produites par le phenomene aeroelastique connu comme flottement et ce mouvement oscillatoire est exploite pour produire du travail utile. Dans une realisation alternative, on fait osciller mecaniquement un ensemble de profils aerodynamiques (106) montes en cascade (110, 112) dans le courant (108) d'un fluide en mouvement pour accroitre la production du fluide. Lorsque le fluide est un liquide, le montage en cascade comprend une pluralite de plans porteurs.

Tyre attachments to rims.- A detachable rim comprises removable side flanges 19 mounted on a channelled base 11 which is expanded or contracted, for tyre-manipulation, by means of a lever 30. The lever is pivoted on the rim-ends, and in the expanded position of the rim 11 is housed between this and the permanent rim 6. Detachable-rim attachments to wheels.- The rim 11 has internal flanges 14, 15 forced on to coned seatings 8, 16 on the permanent rim 6 by nuts 9 threaded on transverse bolts 2. Each nut is formed on a base-plate which can be turned clear of the flange 15, the base being grooved at 10 to engage a rib on a wear-plate 3 when in the operative position.
