    Abstract: A method for replacement of broken pipelines on the ocean floor includes lowering a lifting and positioning tool from the surface down to the ocean floor. A first pipeline end is lifted and positioned on the ocean floor. A preparation tool is lowered from the surface down to the ocean floor, and said pipeline end is inserted into the preparation tool. The method comprises repairing radius and ovality defects, and milling the outer surface of the pipeline end. The method further includes lowering a first pipeline repair connector from the surface down to the ocean floor, and connecting the repair connector to said pipeline end. The steps of the method are repeated on another pipeline end for a second pipeline repair connector and the method comprises lowering a replacement pipeline to the ocean floor and clamping the ends of the replacement pipeline into each of the repair connectors.
