    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an apparatus for inactivating the space surrounding the free surface of molten metal poured into a mold for continuously casting the metal disposed at the lower side of a tundish for supplying molten metal jet into the mold. SOLUTION: This inactivating apparatus is provided with the tubular supporting parts 20 provided with an expandable annular membrane 19 made of a gas permeable and soft material, at least one of tube 21, 22 for supplying inert gas into the inner part of the membrane 19 and outlet holes 23, 24 for making flow of the inert gas into the inner part of the membrane 19 and held in the inner part of the membrane 19, a means for fixing the membrane 19 in the state of surrounding the flowing jet 5 and a means for keeping the closely contacting state simultaneously with the bottom part 3 of a tundish 1 and the upper side rim 26 of a mold 6 by supplying the inert gas into the inlets 21, 22 to bulge the membrane 19.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the mass-production of forged connecting rod excellent in dimensional precision and unit wt. precision by pressing a forged blank having a bore initiator without any burr with two inserts in dies. SOLUTION: The forging blank 33 for connecting rod, having at least one of the bore initiator (a part for guiding the bore correcting) in a large end part and a small end part without any burr on the side surfaces, is forged. Then, this forged blank 33 is bodily corrected by pressing with two inserts 57, 58 in the die 55 to form the corrected forged blank for connecting rod. In such a way, the forged connecting rod shaped with the large end part, body part and small end part, is provided. Mandrels 59, 60 slidable into the inner part of holes 61, 63 formed along the axial lines of bores in the inserts 57, 58, are inserted into the bores of the blank 33 and successively, corrected. By this method, the forged blank having high precision can be mass-produced.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a power ultrasonic actuator most suitably with high reliability by correcting the frequency according to the phase change direction. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an oscillator 3 for feeding a signal having the adjustable frequency, means 4, 5 for measuring the phase between the voltage and the current strength of the signal, and a computer 6 for determining the direction of the phase change in a cycle of preset length and calculating the correction of the frequency of the signal according to the phase change direction to apply it to the oscillator. It is applied to the driving of a power ultrasonic actuator used in various industrial equipment, particularly the one used for generating ultrasonic waves in a continuous casting ingot mold.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a crank shaft without impairing mechanical durability by deforming an intermediate preform, forging along the axial direction of a base pipe and adjusting the lengths of crank pin parts and supporting bearing parts. SOLUTION: The intermediate preform is manufactured from the base pipe of a steel having long straight linear state and a fixed diameter with a hydroform method. This intermediate preform has a fixed length part of different diameters alternately forming the preforms for the crank pin parts 3 mutually matched and the preform for the supporting bearing parts 2 so as to become the same axis with the base pipe. The preforms are formed by inserting the base pipe into a mold having desired diameters and lengths of the supporting bearing parts 2 and crank pin parts 3. At least one of the fixed length part parallel to the supporting bearing part is displaced to the side direction. The deformed intermediate preform is forged along the base pipe direction and matched to the lengths of the crank pin parts 3 and the supporting bearing part 2.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tubular mold having necessary reliability to execute many times of castings and to enable the application of oscillation of sonic wave or ultrasonic wave to the mold by integrally forming a side part projection from the upper end part to the lower side of a metallic portion and fixing a collar on the upper side surface of this side part projection with welding. SOLUTION: At the upper part of the tubular metallic portion 1 provided with the oscillators 14, 15 of the sonic wave or ultrasonic wave for giving the oscillation, a supplying head 8 made of a heat insulating material is fitted. The upper end part of the metallic portion 1 is cooled with wafer circulating the inner part of a groove 20 which is formed at the outer surface of the metallic portion and closed with the collar 21 at the side part, and the collar 21 surrounding the upper end part of the metallic portion 1, is fitted to the upper end part of the metallic portion 1 with the welding. In this tubular mold, the metallic portion 1 is provided with the side part projection 18, and this side part projection 18 is integrally formed with the metallic portion 1 and positioned from the upper end part 19 to the lower side. The groove 20 is machined between the upper end part 19 and the projection part 18, and closed with the collar 21, and the collar 21 is fixed with the welded parts 22, 23.
