    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for generating a path to be traced by a cutting tool in a milling cut situation. SOLUTION: A new shape concept called a 'focal area' suitable for a milling cut situation is used so that a fixed contact with materials to be cut can be held by a cutting tool, and that a tool path minimizing the abrasion of the tool and an impact load can be generated. Moreover, the tool path is optimized so that the short path can traced, and the cutting time can be shortened. This tool path generator is suitable especially for a high speed slice cutting application.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, a method, and a device for forming a visual tool showing correspondence of the same part of a drawing for a certain object between all views of the part in the drawing. SOLUTION: In this method and system for assisting a user in recognition of a element of the object inside various views shown on the object drawing, a selected side of the object in each view is automatically displayed in enhanced form, while the sides of respective planes adjacent to the selected side can be independently displayed in enhanced form. This process facilitates user's recognition of the three-dimensional shape of the object. This invention is suitable for computer assisting designing, computer assisting manufacturing, and computer assisting engineering especially.

    Abstract: A method and system for generating a path to be followed by a cutting tool i n a milling situation. Using a novel geometric concept suited to a milling situation called "focal areas," a toolpath is generated in which the cutting tool remains in constan t contact with material to be cut, thus minimizing wear and shock loading of the tool. In the interactive computer-controlled drawing system, a method and apparatus is disclosed for automatically generating and manipulating a dynamic compass cursor.     Abstract: A computerized method of drawing provides sketching-type drawing capabilities in a computer-aided design (CAD) environment. Geometrical drawing parts or elements, sketched through a hand-controlled indicator and lacking in the precision criteria or standards associated with formal drawings, are recognized and interpreted as points, straight lines, open arcs, circles and ellipses. Delete and "areafill" symbols, similarly, are recognized and interpreted. The method also provides the capability to distinguish and interpret relatively complex, multiple-part or element strokes. This is done by determining break locations for the elements along the stroke, and by recognizing these elements before re-constituting a stroke meeting precision criteria. A variety of geometrical constraints which are important in a CAD environment, including coincidence, parallelism, tangency and relimitation, are also recognized and imposed. The recognizing of geometrical elements includes the use of pattern recognition and the use of a neural net. The determination of breaks incorporates the calculation of functions representative of changes in angle, of curvature, and of changes in slope, and the classification of information elements representative of locations, based on such calculations.
