Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an AP to initiate the re-association of a WTRU without loss of performance.SOLUTION: A transceiver of an access point (AP) according to the invention is configured to send a request message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using a first set of communication parameters and configured to receive a response message from the WTRU using the first set of communication parameters. The request message includes an identifier of a second AP, a second set of communication parameters, and a field that indicates whether disassociation of the WTRU from the AP is immediate. The response message indicates whether the WTRU accepts or rejects connection with the second AP.
