Abstract:
147,374. Bell's United Asbestos Co., Cann, J. A., and Burrows, J. Sept. 19, 1919. Packing, compound metallic and non-metallic.-Relates to a packing of the type wherein a woven fabric is combined with Babbitt &c. metal which forms the working surface. The metal bar a has diagonal grooves b cut or rolled in its working face, which grooves render the packing more easily bent and facilitate the distribution of the lubricant. A woven fabric c folded as shown is placed on the back of the metal bar and secured by a winding d of yarn &c., the said winding in the example shown being in the grooves. A woven fabric e is folded so as to cover the back and sides of the bar, and is covered by a layer of fabric e in the manner shown, the layers being treated with rubber solution and the whole vulcanized.
Abstract:
An apparatus for attaching equipment to a pole includes a plurality of pole-attaching brackets, a support member, and a plurality of U-shaped, longitudinally-extending members. The support member is connected with and between the plurality of pole-attaching brackets. The support member is adjustable towards and away from the plurality of pole-attaching brackets. The plurality of U-shaped, longitudinally-extending members are attached to the support member. Opposed ends of each U-shaped, longitudinally-extending member curve inwardly.
Abstract:
According to embodiments of the present invention, a dishwasher may include a manifold assembly including a manifold and an attachment assembly. The manifold may provide a fluid connection with a fluid supply and direct fluid from the fluid supply to a spray device. The attachment assembly may couple the manifold to a dish rack. Further, the attachment assembly may facilitate movement of the dish rack relative to the manifold between a retracted position and an extended position while maintaining the fluid connection with the fluid supply. The attachment assembly may include at least one sliding rail and a first plurality of engagement members that couple the sliding rail to the dish rack. Additionally, a second plurality of engagement members may couple the manifold and the sliding rail so as to allow movement along the sliding rail along a major axis of the sliding rail.
Abstract:
A tubular manifold device for a dishwasher and associated method are provided. The manifold device defines a contiguous interior channel between opposed inlet and outlet ends. The manifold device has an inner surface defining the interior channel and an opposing outer surface, and comprises at least two discretely-formed manifold portions, each extending between and at least bisecting the opposed inlet and outlet ends of the interior channel. The at least two manifold portions are capable of cooperating via respective engagable longitudinal edges so as to form at least two joints therebetween. At least one overmold member is configured to sealingly engage the at least two manifold portions, across each of the at least two joints, such that the interior channel is fluid-tight between the inlet and outlet ends.
Abstract:
A boring tool moves having a pitch orientation, a yaw orientation and a roll orientation and is steerable underground using the roll orientation. A maximum drill string curvature is established for steering. The boring tool is advanced over a path segment. An averaged roll characteristic is determined for movement of the boring tool along the path segment. A path segment pitch orientation is established based on at least one measured pitch orientation along the path segment. Using the maximum drill string curvature in combination with the averaged roll characteristic and the path segment pitch orientation, the yaw orientation is determined. The averaged roll characteristic is determined based on a series of incremental roll measurements that are spaced across the path segment. A set of coupled ordinary differential equations is used to characterize movement of the boring tool.
Abstract:
An implantable orthopedic prosthesis has a macro/micro-textured bone and soft tissue attachment surface to which a spiked washer is clamped by a threaded bolt received through said washer and threaded into said prosthesis. Soft tissue is secured to the prosthesis by clamping between said washer and said soft tissue attachment surface. The tissue attachment surface is arranged as a regular grid of depressions separated by orthogonal ridges formed by electrodischarge machining of the prosthesis using a machining electrode having a mold-opposite surface texture with a micro-textured roughened surface finish. The spacing of the spikes is and integer multiple of the spacing of the depressions to assure registry of the spikes with the depressions.

Abstract:
A drain valve for a dishwasher and associated apparatus and method are provided. A housing receives fluid through an inlet channel and channels the fluid toward an outlet channel extending from an outlet port defined by the housing. A sealing member is disposed within the housing and is capable of forming a sealing engagement with the outlet port. A cradle member disposed within the housing is configured to receive and partially constrain freedom of movement of the sealing member. The cradle member is movable between a valve closed position, where fluid flow toward the outlet channel urges the sealing member into sealing engagement with the outlet port to close the drain valve, and a valve open position, where fluid flow is allowed between the inlet channel and the outlet channel, through the housing, without the sealing member engaging the outlet port.
