A detergent composition is provided according to the invention. The detergent composition includes a branched alcohol alkoxylate having the formula: wherein R1 is a C2-C20 alkyl, R2 is H or a C1-C4 alkyl, n is 2-20, and m is 1-40, and a compatibililizing surfactant. The compatibilizing surfactant can be selected so that an aqueous composition containing 5 wt. % of the branched alcohol alkoxylate and at least 2.5 wt. % of the compatibilizing surfactant provides a clear aqueous composition. A clear aqueous composition refers to an aqueous composition that is free of haze visible to the naked eye. In general, a clear aqueous composition resembles a composition containing only water. A method for using the detergent composition is provided.

A solid detergent composition is disclosed including a alcohol ethoxylate surfactant and a sole hardening agent consisting of polyethylene glycol 4000 wherein the composition does not include any free water or alkali metal hydroxides and may include a chlorine-free bleaching agent and activator. The detergent composition may further include citrate, a water conditioner, a sequestrant. The solid detergent composition may be formed into an amorphous solid. Compositions of the invention may further include a crystal modifier consisting of sodium xylene sulfonate. The detergent composition may further optionally include an optical brightener, defoamer, enzyme, antiredeposition agent, buffering agent, stabilizer or combinations thereof.

The present invention is directed to rinse aid compositions and methods for making and using the rinse aid compositions. The compositions of the invention include a sheeting agent, a defoaming agent, and an association disruption agent. The rinse aid compositions of the present invention result in a faster draining/drying time on most substrates compared to conventional rinse aids. The rinse aid compositions of the present invention are especially suitable for use on plastic substrates.

The compositions include an oppositely charged complexing agent which is used in combination with an anionic or cationic optical brightener. In some embodiments, the compositions include a cationic optical brightener with no complexing agent.

A soil resistant laminate composition and a soil resistant treatment use composition are provided. In particular, a laminate composition comprising a multilayer composition of a clean and/or soiled surface and a dried layer of a soil resistant agent are disclosed. Soil resistant agents according to the invention include copolymers of a maleic/olefin, an olefin/acrylate and combinations thereof and are suitable for delivery with a carrier, including for example a detergent, water or other organic solvent carrier. A kit and methods for treating a clean surface using a soil resistant laminate composition and a soil resistant treatment use composition are provided by the present invention.

A rinse aid composition may generally include an effective amount of a sheeting agent component, and an effective amount of a defoamer component. The sheeting agent component may include one or more alclhol ethoxylate compounds that include an alkyl group that includes 12 or fewer carbon atoms. The defoamer component may include an ethylene oxide containing surfactant configured for reducing the stability of foam that may be created by the one or more alcohol ethoxylate compounds of the sheeting agent in an aqueous solution.
