Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel glycerin ether ethoxylate solfactant compounds, compositions employing the same, and methods of using these compounds. Beneficially the compounds have efficacy as both solvents and surfactants with low foam and low viscosity. The compounds of the present invention can be used as antimicrobials and/or sanitizing agents in various formulations. The compounds of the present invention are also suitable for use as solvents and/or hydrotropes.
Abstract:
Methods for the use of peracid compositions having decreased hydrogen peroxide concentration for various water treatments, including oil- and gas-field operations, and/or other aseptic treatments are disclosed. In numerous aspects, peracetic acid is the preferred peracid and is treated with a peroxide-reducing agent to substantially reduce the hydrogen peroxide content. Methods for using the treated peracid compositions for treatment of drilling fluids, frac fluids, flow back waters and disposal waters are also disclosed for improving water condition, reducing oxidizing damage associated with hydrogen peroxide and/or reducing bacteria infestation.

Abstract:
A turbine (1) for extracting energy from a flowing fluid for conversion into electricity, comprising a first rotor (3) with longitudinally extending blades (6) which is mounted for rotation about a rotor axis (A) extending transversely of the direction of fluid flow, and a second rotor (7) which is also mounted for rotation about the rotor axis. The blades (10) of the second rotor are displaced radially outwardly from the blades of the first rotor so that the blades of the first rotor rotate within the space defined by the blades of the second rotor. The second rotor rotates about the rotor axis in the opposite sense to that of the first rotor. The arrangement may be such that the sense of rotation remains the same irrespective of the direction of fluid flow. One of the rotors may rotate the stator of an electrical generator, whilst the other rotates the rotor of the generator. The turbine is preferably buoyant and is useful in tethered, submerged configurations.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions of peracids, such as peroxycarboxylic acids, having reduced odor compared to conventional peracid compositions. The invention further relates to methods employing such compositions, and methods of making these compositions. Typically, the reduced-odor antimicrobial compositions include an alcohol for the esterification reaction to remove short- to mid-chain length malodorous carboxylic acids.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for making a peroxycarboxylic acid. The apparatus includes a reaction catalyst and a guard column for pretreating one or more reagents, which can increase the life, activity, and/or safety of the reaction catalyst. The peroxycarboxylic acid compositions made by the method and apparatus can include one or more peroxycarboxylic acids.
Abstract:
A composition for the generation of chlorine dioxide including at least one non-iodo interhalide, polyhalide or salt thereof having the formula: Br m Cl n F o X p , wherein m=0-3, n=0-4, o=0-3, p=0-2, X is a cationic moiety and with the provisos that m+n+o cannot be zero; if m+n+p
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides methods for generating percarboxylic acid compositions and/or peroxycarboxylic acid compositions formed external to a point of use in non-equilibrium reactions for use in certain bleaching and antimicrobial applications, in particular laundry applications. The compositions are generated external to a point of use, at alkaline pH levels, viz. greater than about pH 12, and optionally suitable for use with detergents and/or surfactants for synergistic bleaching efficacy. Methods of bleaching and/or disinfecting are further provided.
