    Abstract: Photochemical electrode can decompose water when irradiated with visible light and consists of red mercuric sulphide blackened by iodide treatment as a coating on a platinum mesh. A cell for electrolysing water by the action of light comprises said photochemical electrode (1), a counter-electrode (20), both electrodes being connected by an external circuit, and an aqueous sodium nitrate solution (9). The irradiation system consists of a Xenon lamp (34), lenses (30a, 30b) and a light filter (32).

    Abstract: A pocket-size portable transmitter in an emergency call transmission system for geriatric persons has an actuator including a simple switch part such as a push button and a simple cover part movable between a normal closed position covering the switch to prevent accidental actuation and an open position exposing the switch for actuation. In a preferred system a plurality of transmitters are inductively coupled with respective receivers distributed to determine separate areas for use of the transmitters, the transmitters producing multi-element code sequence signals to avoid false alarms from outside interference, and the receivers having wired connections to a central alarm indicator assembly.

    Abstract: In crystal growing apparatus in which a crystal is vertically pulled from an electric heated melt the weight of the crystal is measured by a load cell whose output is compared with an expected function to form a control loop for controlling heater power, the improvement comprises a correction circuit for applying to the control loop a signal compensating for a time differential ( lambda a) of an error signal in the load cell output. The correction circuit may be a feedback or a feed forward loop.
