Abstract: A sprinkler head including a sprinkler body with a passage for fluid and a seal mechanism sealing the passage, and a cage member. A frangible bulb extends between the cage member and the seal. A shape memory alloy element is associated with the frangible bulb and has a first configuration that fits within, about, or abutting the bulb and a second configuration at a predetermined temperature which breaks the frangible bulb releasing the fluid through the passage.

Abstract: The present invention provides a waveguide for the transmission of data signals therealong, with said signals typically received from, and/or transmitted to, a remote location and subsequently passed to or emitted from apparatus which allows the data to be processed. The waveguide includes a channel which has a cross sectional shape, the angular orientation of which is changed at at least one point along the length of the same so as provide a waveguide which is less sensitive to interference. The waveguide, in one embodiment can also include recessed portions and/or ridges along the length of the channel which ensures that the waveguide can be formed in a more reliable and controlled manner.

Abstract: An antenna diplexer includes an electromagnetic waveguide arrangement having four ports (1-4), and a magnetic circulator device (12) for controlling the direction in which signals can pass from one port to the next. The ports include a transmitter port (1) which passes signals to a bi-directional antenna port (2), which passes received signals to a receiver port (3). The receiver port is provided with a filter (23) for rejecting signals at the transmitter frequency, and the receiver port passes signals to a terminator port (4) containing a load element (14) for absorbing any signals which arrive at this port. Although such an arrangement only requires one circulator device and one load element it provides improved matching at the antenna and improved isolation between the transmitter and receiver ports. The transmitter port may incorporate an additional filter (21) for rejecting signals at the receive frequencies.
