    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer sensor capable of providing samples of signal waveforms passing a conductor for signal analyzing. SOLUTION: There is provided the analyzing sensor which is an apparatus for detecting the signal waveforms of a pair of conductors. This apparatus has capacitive couplers which are connected to termination impedance and is to be placed adjacent to the conductors to capacitively couple the signals of the conductors to the related termination impedance. The apparatus also has a first and a second buffer amplifiers for respectively providing an amplified difference of the signals to first and second outputs so as to response respectively to the signals at the termination impedance. The apparatus further has a utility module provided with a battery power source which is connected to the buffer amplifiers by a line and supplies power to the buffer amplifiers at a location distant from the buffer amplifiers.     Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a fill level of a fluid within a fluid vessel, an identity of the fluid, and/or a condition of the vessel wall are disclosed. To determine a fluid fill level, at least one acoustic sensor is positionable substantially on an exterior sidewall of a vessel containing fluid. A computerized device is in communication with the at least one acoustic sensor. A processor of the computerized device receives a detection signal from the at least one acoustic sensor and communicates an alert of the detection signal, which can be used to identify a fill level of the fluid. The detection signal, along with other measured information, can be used to identify the material type of the fluid. A condition of the vessel wall may be determined based on an attenuation signal when two acoustic sensors are used, one being positioned angular to the vessel wall.

    Abstract: A method for detecting the presence of foreign fluids on surface comprises estimating an expected polarization response for a foreign fluid desired to be detected. Oil from an oil spill is one such foreign fluid. A polarimeter records raw image data of a surface (e.g., the surface of water) to obtain polarized images of the surface. IR and polarization data products are computed from the polarized images. The IR and polarization data products are converted to multi-dimensional data set to form multi-dimensional imagery. Contrast algorithms are applied to the multi-dimensional imagery to form enhanced contrast images, from which foreign fluids can be automatically detected.

    Abstract: A safety system for a building has an excess gas flow detector circuit for detecting gas flow in a gas supply pipe. The safety system can also include an earthquake detector for detecting ground accelerations exceeding a threshold acceleration/frequency curve dividing safe and hazardous ground accelerations throughout a predetermined frequency range. The earthquake detector includes an accelerometer for measuring linear acceleration along an axis, and for generating an acceleration signal indicative of a magnitude of the measured acceleration. A filter circuit produces a filtered acceleration signal from the acceleration signal. The gain/frequency characteristic of the filter circuit is a reflection of the threshold acceleration/frequency curve, such that ground accelerations falling on the threshold acceleration/frequency curve yield a filtered acceleration signal having a substantially constant value throughout the frequency range. Finally, a threshold circuit compares the filtered acceleration signal to a predetermined threshold voltage, and produces an earthquake detected signal indicative of the comparison result. The safety system can also include a gas detector circuit capable of detecting a gas in air, and generating a gas detected signal in response to detection of the gas. A smoke detectorcircuit can also be provided for generating a smoke detected signal. A main unit including a microprocessor is responsive to the excess gas flow detected signal, the earthquake detected signal, the gas detected signal and the smoke detected signal. A valve controller closes a gas valve to shut off a supply of gas in response to the first control signal.

    Abstract: Non-contacting sensor apparatus having two tank circuits from which an indication of the position of the moving part of the sensor is developed by measuring the relative resonance frequencies of the two tank circuits. As the moving part of the sensor changes position, the relative resonance frequencies of the two tank circuits change. The outputs of the two tank circuits are multiplexed and drive a pulse generator which develops a first series of pulses having a repetition rate which corresponds to the resonance frequency of one of the tank circuits and a second series of pulses having a repetition rate which corresponds to the resonance frequency of the other tank circuit. The relative times required to count the same number of pulses of each series of pulses provides an indication of the position of the moving part of the sensor.
