Abstract: Some embodiments provide for an inspiratory limb for a breathing circuit that includes a first segment that comprises a first heater wire circuit and a second segment that comprises a second heater wire circuit. The inspiratory limb can include an intermediate connector that includes a connection circuit that electrically couples the first heater wire circuit to the second heater wire circuit. The inspiratory limb can be configured to operate in two modes wherein, in a first mode, electrical power passes through the first electrical connection to provide power to the first heater wire circuit without providing power to the second heater wire circuit, and in a second mode, electrical power pass through the first electrical connection to provide power to both the first heater wire circuit and the second heater wire circuit.

Abstract: Un procédé et un appareil permettent de placer une carte à mémoire (16) ayant les dimensions d'une carte de crédit et portant un support magnétique d'enregistrement (18) dans une position de fonctionnement adjacente à une tête (24) de lecture/écriture de l'appareil. La carte et la tête peuvent se déplacer l'une par rapport à l'autre, ce qui permet à la tête de lire des données contenues sur le support magnétique de la carte à mémoire ou d'y inscrire des données. Dans un premier mode de réalisation, l'appareil a une forme circulaire (12), similaire à un disque dur, mais avec une partie découpée ou ouverture (14) dans laquelle on peut insérer la carte à mémoire. L'appareil en forme de disque peut être mis en rotation, de sorte que le support magnétique de la carte peut se déplacer le long de la tête de lecture/écriture radialement mobile par rapport à l'axe central (21) du disque. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la carte à mémoire (102) peut se déplacer jusqu'à une position fixe de fonctionnement adjacente à la tête de lecture/écriture (106) et la tête peut se déplacer tant radialement que dans le sens de la circonférence, de sorte que la tête et la carte à mémoire se déplacent l'une par rapport à l'autre avec deux degrés de liberté.

Abstract: Particle collector apparatus are used to separate particles from an entrained gas. Typically, flow is effected by means of applying a vacuum at one end, where the vacuum is produced by means of a mechanical, reciprocating piston, type vacuum generator.
