Abstract:
PURPOSE: A multi-layer filter for separating and purifying nucleic acid is provided in which a plurality of filter layers having different pore sizes are combined in a lamella structure so as to used in separating and purifying the nucleic acid from biological samples. CONSTITUTION: The multi-layer filter is characterized in that synthetic resin filter layers(2-9) having an average pore diameter of 5 to 40 microns are arranged as first to eighth layers on a hydrophobic filter layer(1) having an average pore diameter of 1 to 10 microns, wherein the hydrophobic filter layer(1) is a hydrophobic synthetic resin filter layer or a hydrophobic surface treated glass filter layer, the synthetic resin filter layer(1) is made of polyolefin resin such as polyethylene resin, the glass filter layer is covered with dimethyl dichloride silane, diethyl dichloride silane, or a mixture thereof, and the multi-layer filter further comprises a paper filter layer having a thickness of 1 to 2 mm and an average pore diameter of 5 to 25 microns which can be formed on the hydrophobic filter layer(1) or interposed between the synthetic resin filter layers(2-9), and which is manufactured by impregnating a paper filter with a buffer solution containing sodium acetate or potassium acetate and having a pH of 3 to 7, and drying the buffer solution impregnated paper filter.

PURPOSE: A device for micro-arraying a biological sample automatically is provided to manufacture microchips, on which the bio-molecules are micro-arrayed, simply in large quantities by spotting the biological sample as the high density and micro-arraying it. CONSTITUTION: The device for micro-arraying the biological sample automatically includes a capillary tube, plates(2), a rack(10), a withdrawing hook(13), a fixed board(19), a vacuum pad(20) and a cover opening and shutting instrument(14). The capillary tube takes the biological sample in the plates(2) and drips it on the board. The plates(2) are laid up and down and on the direction of the circumference. The rack(10) is operated possible to be rotated and to be inserted and removed. The withdrawing hook(13) withdraws the plates(2) from the rack(10) in the horizontal direction. The vacuum pad(20) is installed on the fixed board(19) to fix the board. The cover opening and shutting instrument(14) opens the cover of the plates(2).

New sulfonyloxadiazolones have the formula (I), in which A stands for hydrogen, sulphur, -SO-, -SO 2 - or a group (a), in which R 3 stands for hydrogen or alkyl; R 1 stands for optionally substituted cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or aryl; and R 2 stands for optionally substituted heterocyclyl. Also disclosed is a process for preparing these substances and their use as microbicides for the protection of plants and materials.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer filter for nucleic acid separation and refining, which has high efficiency, selectivity and strength. SOLUTION: This multilayer filter consists of a porous synthetic resin layer(s), a glass layer(s) and a paper layer(s) and such plural multilayer filters provided are generally classified into two kinds of multilayer filters, that is,: one kind of the multilayer filters are trapping filters each of which is capable of preventing any permeation of a whole cell-fragmented material solution containing nucleic acid from being caused when filtration is performed under ordinary pressure, and when filtration is performed under reduced pressure, allowing only a nucleic acid-containing solution to permeate through and trapping the cell residue; and the other kind of the multilayer filters are binding filters each of which is capable of adsorbing plasmid DNA in the presence of a chaotropic salt and desorbing the adsorbed plasmid DNA when an eluting buffer solution is added.

CONSTITUTION: The multi-layered filter for separation and purification of nucleic acid comprises a first lowest filter layer having average pore diameter of 1 to 10 μm and 2nd to 8th synthetic filter layers having average pore diameter of 5 to 40 μm, wherein the average pore diameter of the filter layers is 1 to 5 μm; the filter layer is hydrophobic synthetic resin, hydrophobic-treated glass or paper filter layer; the synthetic filter layer is made of polyolefin resin; the polyolefin resin is polyethylene resin; a filter layer, which is dipped in a buffer solution of pH 3 to 7 containing sodium acetate or potassium acetate and has the average pore diameter of 5 to 25 μm, may be further added on the 8th synthetic filter layer.

PURPOSE: A process of preparing a corn extract by extracting a corn kernel or corn husk in war, a polar organic solvent or a mixture thereof and then removing the extraction solvent from the extract is provided. Therefore, a composition containing the corn extract is effectively used as a pharmaceutical composition for the prophylaxis and treatment of obesity or diabetics and a food additive for regulating blood sugar levels. CONSTITUTION: A corn kernel or corn husk is extracted at 0 to 100deg.C in a polar organic solvent such as C1-4 lower alcohol, the extract is dissolved or suspended in water, an aqueous solution or aqueous suspension of the extract is brought into contact with a polar organic solvent or nonpolar organic solvent to disperse the extract component. Thereafter, the polar organic solvent solution or aqueous solution thereof is recovered, the polar organic solvent or water is removed therefrom to produce a partially purified corn extract.

CONSTITUTION: The hollow typed spotting pin for a microarray of biological samples comprises a capillary part forming a tapered end and a reservoir part having larger inner diameter than the capillary part and containing a sample solution, wherein the inner diameter ratio of the capillary part to the reservoir part is 1:0.033 to 1:0.2; the inner diameters of the capillary part and the reservoir part are 0.01 to 0.5 mm and 0.5 to 3 mm, respectively; and the spotting pin is made from glass, soda line, or borosilicate glass.
