An antimicrobial acidic dye composition is provided to exhibit an excellent antimicrobial property and good fastness characteristics to washing, water, sunlight, etc. An antimicrobial acidic dye composition includes at least one acidic dye compound having antimicrobial activity represented by the following formula of B^1-Ar^1-SO2NH-Ar^2-B^2. The composition exhibits antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, or both strains thereof. The composition further comprises at least one dye compound selected from the group consisting of C.I. Acid Red 337, C.I. Acid Blue 324, C.I. Acid Yellow 199, and C.I. Acid Orange 67.

A novel asymmetric azo-based metal complex dye compound, and an acidic dye composition containing the compound are provided to decrease the generation of remaining waste water after dyeing and to enhance water fastness, washing fastness and light fastness. An asymmetric azo-based metal complex dye compound is represented by the chemical formula 1, wherein R1 to R9 are independently -H, -NH2, -SO3H, -OH, -COOH, -CH3, -F, -Cl, -Br, -OCH3, -NH-(C6H5), -NH-(C6H4)CH3, -NHSO2-(C6H5), -NHSO2-(C6H4)Cl, -NHSO2-(C6H4)COOH, -NHCOCH3, -NH2CH3, -SO2NH2, -NHSO2CH3, -N(CH3)2, -N(C2H5)2, -NO2, -NHCONH2, -CONH2, -N(C2H4OH)2 or -OC2H5.

An acidic dye compound having antimicrobial activity is provided to have a structure in which two aromatic rings are linked by a sulfonamide group, and exhibit good fastness characteristics and excellent antimicrobial properties. An acidic dye compound having antimicrobial activity has a structure represented by the following formula of B^1-Ar^1-SO2NH-Ar^2-B^2. An acidic dye composition having antimicrobial activity comprises at least one of the acidic dye compounds, and further at least one dye compound selected from the group consisting of C.I. Acid Red 337, C.I. Acid Blue 324, C.I. Acid Yellow 199, and C.I. Acid Orange 67.
