Abstract: PURPOSE: A parts information system to provide the 3D(3 dimensional) CAD(Computer-Aided Design) modeling data having the parametric information in a digital catalog format is provided to make the modeling data capable of reproducing the 3D CAD model in a system desired by a designer into a database and to offer the modeling data to the designer. CONSTITUTION: The parts information system(300) receives the parts information including the part detail information, the 3D CAD model and a macro file from a parts company client(100) connecting through a network such as the Internet. A part of the information received from the client instantly is transmitted to a parts information database(700) and a part of the information is stored in the parts information database after a data conversion process. A search condition to find out the parts desired by the designer is transmitted to the system from a producing company client(200) through the Internet. The system searches the database according to the search condition and the searched parts information is transmitted to the client after making into a web page of the digital catalog format.
