Abstract:
A composition for preventing or treating dermatitis is provided to suppress the expression of cytokines such as IL-1alpha, IL-6, IL-8 and MCP-1 (monocyte chemotactic protein) and prevent the dermatitis. A composition for preventing or treating dermatitis comprises Kaempferia pandurata extract as an active ingredient. The Kaempferia pandurata extract inhibits the sebum secretion by decreasing the activation of PPAR-gamma. The Kaempferia pandurata extract is obtained using organic solvent and oil. The skin adhesive cosmetic composition is used in the form of lotion, astringent, massage cream, pack, powder, body lotion, body cream, rinse and shampoo.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A method for inhibiting bio-synthesis of cholesterol using xanthorrhizol is provided for use in treating cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, hear disease. CONSTITUTION: The Acyl-CoA: Cholesterol Acyltransferase(ACAT) catalyzes the esterification of cholesterol inducing arteriosclerosis, heart attack, and stroke in vivo. The xanthorrhizol to be isolated from Curcuma xanthorrhiza has the structure of formula I and inhibits the activity of Acyl-CoA: Cholesterol Acyltransferase(ACAT). The inhibition activity of ACAT is measured by inhibition percentage of xanthorrhizol or inhibition concentration(50%) IC50, that the concentration inhibits the activity of ACAT by 50% under given conditions, in the presence of 20 nM of ACAT, and is confirmed by animal test, in which after inducing high accumulation of cholesterol, xanthorrhizol is administrated.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An anti-biotic active materials from Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. is provided, which is stable at high temperature, shows high anti-biotic activity to the harm mouth microorganisms without side-effects. A mouth cleanser, a toothpaste composition, and gum composition containing the anti-biotic active materials also shows anti-biotic activity without side-effects. CONSTITUTION: A separation process for anti-biotic active materials from Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. comprises of: collecting and drying Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. in the wind, and pulverizing with a mixer; extracting the pulverized Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. reagent with methanol, ethanol, hexane and water(in case of using methanol, ethanol, and hexane as an extracting solvent, mixing each 50vol.%, 75vol.%, 100vol.% of methanol, ethanol and hexane with the reagent, and extracting at room temperature for 2days repeatedly, and in case of using water as an extracting solvent, mixing the reagent with water and extracting at 100°C for 1hr; filtering the extract using a Whatman filter sheath No.2; concentrating the filtered extract with a vacuumed rotatory concentrator to get the extract.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An antibiotic composition for oral microorganisms using medicinal plant extract is provided, which is low-molecular material and stable at high-temperature; which shows high antibiotic effect without side-effect. CONSTITUTION: A process for the preparation of antibiotic composition for oral microorganisms using medicinal plant extract comprises of: preparing each dried reagent(Baekea frutescens, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Kaempferia pandurata, Morus alba, Physalis angulata, or Quercus infectoria); pulverizing each dried reagent to 80mesh, and mixing each reagent 100g with 75% methanol 400ml, and extracting repeatedly for 2times while shaking for 2days; filtering each extracted reagent with Whatman No.2 filter sheath; concentrating each filtered solution under decompression to eliminate solvent ingredient with a vacuumed rotary concentrator; freeze-drying to get each powdered reagent.
Abstract:
A sporicidal agent is provided to inhibit growth and activity of spore-forming food poisoning microorganisms, suppress the exponential growth into feeder cells by inhibiting germination of spores, and inhibit side effects, so that food poisoning is prevented. A sporicidal agent against spore-forming microorganisms contains panduratin A represented by the formula(1) or isopanduratin A represented by the formula(2) which is extracted from Kaempferia pandurata by drying and pulverizing Kaempferia pandurata, extracting the pulverized Kaempferia pandurata with water, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate or a mixed solvent thereof, removing solvent from the extract and subjecting the extract to silica gel column chromatography, wherein the spore-forming microorganisms include Bacillus sp. and Clostridium sp.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An antibacterial soap composition including xanthorrhizol represented by formula 1 is provided which takes antibacterial action for microbes causing dermatitis. CONSTITUTION: The antibacterial soap composition including xanthorrhizol represented by formula 1 is obtained by adding 0.001-5.0 wt% of xanthorrhizol to general soap.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: Extraction methods using microwaves, ultrasonic waves, or supercritical fluids are provided to extract an antibiotic material from Curcuma xanthorrhiza which suppresses the growth of a harmful oral germ and a pimple inducible germ. CONSTITUTION: Extraction methods of an antibiotic material are shown: extraction of xanthorrhiza from pulverized Curcuma xanthorrhiza by using CO2 as supercritical fluid, at 35-79°C, and within the range of 100-400 bar; extraction of xanthorrhiza from the composition composed of pulverized Curcuma xanthorrhiza and solvent at the ratio of 10:1-30:1, at 50-120°C for 1-10 min by using microwaves; extraction of xanthorrhiza from the composition composed of pulverized Curcuma xanthorrhiza and solvent at the ratio of 10:1-30:1, at room temperature-50°C for 10-60 min by using ultrasonic waves. The extracts are condensed by evaporating solvents, and are analyzed by using silica gel chromatography.
