    Abstract: PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition and a food composition containing a pomegranate peel salt with whitening and anti-inflammatory effects are provided to relieve pruritus and to suppress melanogenesis and tyrosinase activities. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for skin whitening contains a pomegranate peel salt containing a pomegranate extract and a salt. A pharmaceutical composition for anti-inflammation contains the pomegranate peel salt as an active ingredient. A method for preparing the pomegranate peel salt comprise: a step of extracting an active ingredient from pomegranate peel and preparing a sample; a step of baking bay salt at 70-90 deg. C; and a step of mixing the sample and the baked bay salt in a ratio of 1:10(w/w). The sample is prepared by dipping pomegranate peel in 60-80% ethanol. The bay salt is matured for 2 or more years. A food composition for skin whitening and anti-inflammation contains the pomegranate peel salt as an active ingredient.
