    Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for regulating a pressure applied to an area of a living body during a biodata measurement with the use of a biodata measuring apparatus. The apparatus is designed to irradiate with light the area of the living body by means of a detecting probe then held in contact with the area of the living body, then to detect light transmitted through and/or reflected from the area of the living body, and finally to measure a predetermined biodata within the living body on the basis of a spectrum of the transmitted and/or reflected light. The method and the apparatus include pressing, during the biodata measurement, the area of the living body with a predetermined pressure through a soft pressure medium to thereby regulate the pressure applied to the area of the living body to a value equal to the predetermined pressure.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring concentration of component to be measured by which the concentration of a component to be measured in a sample solution containing the component and its interfering component can be measured quickly and accurately. SOLUTION: At the time of measuring the hydrogen peroxide concentration of the sample solution, a concentration-reduced sample solution is prepared by keeping the sample solution in a decomposing tank 4 for a fixed period of time while the solution is vibrated by means of a vibrating motor 6. A spectroscopic analyzer 8 measures the intensity Is of an ultraviolet ray transmitted through the sample solution after the ray is radiated at a prescribed intensity and the intensity Ig of the ultraviolet ray transmitted through the concentration- reduced sample solution after the ray is radiated at the prescribed intensity. Then the hydrogen peroxide concentration of the sample solution is computed quickly and accurately without being affected by the interfering component by utilizing the proportional relation between -log (Is/Ig) and the hydrogen peroxide concentration.

    Abstract: A second optical component is an optical fiber bundle charged in a clearance between an inner cylinder and an outer cylindrical outer peripheral part in the form of a ring. These elements are integrated with each other, and forward-end-surfaces thereof are on concentric circles. A ring of the forward-end-surface of the outer peripheral part is larger in width than the ring of the forward-end-surface of the second optical component. A first optical component charged with an optical fiber bundle is slidably inserted into and engaged in the cylinder inside the second optical component, so that the forward-end-surface of the first optical component can project or retract from the forward-end-surface of the outer peripheral part. The outer peripheral part is brought into contact with a human body and force for pressing a measured region is changed by sliding the first optical component for measuring absorption spectra between the first and second optical components under different values of pressing force, thereby obtaining a difference absorbance spectrum under different states of pressurization.
