Abstract: A cosmetic composition comprising sargachromenol is provided to induce apoptosis on human keratinocyte significantly, thereby being usefully used in order to prevent and improving skin diseases caused by skin aging, photo-aging and pigmentation. A cosmetic composition for preventing and improving skin diseases comprises sargachromenol represented by a formula(1) and isolated from Sargassum sagamianum as an effective ingredient, wherein the skin disease is a skin disease caused by proliferation of keratinocyte such as skin aging, photo-aging, and a pigmentation disease.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing Sargaquinoic acid for preventing or treating skin disease and skin cancer is provided to prevent and treat diseases associated with hyperplastic skin cells by inducing cytotoxicity and apoptosis of skin cells, and promotes apoptosis by irradiating ultraviolet rays. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating skin disease and skin cancer contains Sargaquinoic acid represented by the formula(I) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt as an effective ingredient, wherein the medicinal effects of the pharmaceutical composition are increased by irradiating ultraviolet rays and the skin disease is hyperplastic skin disease including psoriasis, fishskin disease, Bowen's disease, papilloma, eczema, eczema, atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, dermatitis, lichen planus, striatus, foot hyperkeratosis, dark spots, actinic keratosis, skin aging and photoaging.
