Abstract: PURPOSE: A wing system for an ornithopter with flexible thin-film solar cells is provided to increase the flight distance and time of the wing system. CONSTITUTION: A wing system for an ornithopter with flexible thin-film solar cells comprises a pair of main wings(20), a flapping gear box, and a battery. The pair of main wings is hinge-coupled to a body. The flapping gear box is operated by a main motor to vertically flap the main wings. The battery supplies power to the main motor. Each main wing comprises a wing spar(21), a wing film(23), and solar cell modules(25). One end of the wing spar is hinge-fixed on the body. The solar cell modules are attached to the top surface of the wing film. The solar cell modules produce electricity and store the produced electricity to the battery.
