    Abstract: A method for preventing engine stall in applying idle load of an automatic transmission vehicle is provided to restrain engine stall even under power steering full-turn operation, by turning off a compressor of an air conditioner for the predetermined time if the total mileage of the vehicle is within reference distance. A method for preventing engine stall in applying idle load of an automatic transmission vehicle comprises the steps of: judging whether the cumulated mileage of the vehicle is within pre-set reference distance and full load conditions are satisfied or not according to the present injection amount of fuel; judging a stop/low-speed state that present engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) is in an idle RPM region, a transmission gear is in a D-stage input state, and the present vehicle speed is below reference speed, if all conditions are satisfied; and forcibly turning off a compressor of an air conditioner for the predetermined time, if a switch of the air conditioner is turned on after the state that all conditions are satisfied is continued for the set time.
