Abstract: PURPOSE: A nano-wire shaped molybdenum disulfide catalyst and a method for producing bio-fuel using the same are provided to convert biomass with oxygen-containing compounds into biofuel under hydrodeoxygenation. CONSTITUTION: A nano-wire shaped molybdenum disulfide(MoS_2) catalyst is used as the activating component of hydrodeoxygenation. The hydrodeoxygenation converts biomass into biofuel. The catalyst is prepared based on a ligand stabilizing method. The average particle size of the catalyst is in a range between 1 and 1,000nm. The catalyst is dispersed phase. A method for preparing the catalyst includes the following: a molybdenum complex compound is prepared by reacting a molybdenum precursor and a phosphine oxide-based compound based on the ligand stabilizing method; and sulfur is reacted with the molybdenum complex compound.
