Abstract: A composition for preventing and treating cognitive dysfunction is provided to suppress the nerve cell toxicity which is induced by a beta-amyloid and recover memory damage caused by a scopolamine. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating diseases related to cognitive dysfunction comprises a sulforaphane of the structural formula (I) as an active ingredient. The diseases related to the cognitive dysfunction are alzheimer dementia, intracerbroventricular dementia, Pick disease, Creutzfeldt-jakob disease and Parkinson disease. The compound is contained in the content of 0.1-50 weight%. A health functional food for preventing and treating the diseases related to the cognitive dysfunction comprises the sulforaphane as an active ingredient. The health functional food is used in a form of tablet, capsule, pill and liquid.
