Abstract: PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing Persicaria perfoliata extract is provided to suppress IL-1beta secretion in macrophage and to prevent and treat inflammatory diseases without cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory disease contains 0.1-50 wt% of Persicaria perfoliata extract as an active ingredient. A method for preparing the Persicaria perfoliata extract comprises: a step of filtering the extract, concentrating by reduced pressure, and freeze-drying. The extraction solvent is water, low carbon number alcohol of C1-C4, or a mixture thereof.
