Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for treating, preventing, and improving contact dermatitis including 3,4,5-tricaffeoylquinic acid as an active ingredient. The 3,4,5-tricaffeoylquinic acid of the present invention represents therapeutic activity of contact dermatitis which reduces skin thickness at a dermatitis site of an animal model with contact dermatitis while sharply reducing the secretion amount of IL-1 β induced by by LPS and ATP processing in macrophage originated from bone marrow. The composition is extracted from natural products and is harmless to human bodies, therefore the composition can be developed as medicine for treatment or improvement of contact dermatitis or an active material for cosmetics.

Abstract: A therapeutic agent of chronic inflammatory agent is provided to effectively inhibit the secretion of interleukin-23 and interleukin-17 using an Artemisia extract. A therapeutic agent of chronic inflammatory diseases comprises an Artermisia extract as an active ingredient. The Artermisia extract is isolated using C1-C4 alcohol or its solution. Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition including pellitorine as an active ingredient for alleviating contact dermatitis. A pellitorine compound which is an active ingredient of the composition according to the present invention is secreted in the early stage of various strong inflammatory diseases so as to control the secretion of IL-1beta which is cytokine promoting an inflammatory response and also control the proliferation of T cells and the secretion of IL-2, IL-4, or IFN-gamma which is cytokine secreted from T cells so that immunity can be regulated. Moreover, the compound exhibits activities in controlling the secretion of IL-1beta, inhibiting the decomposition cleavage of caspase-1, having no cytotoxicity, and decreasing skin thickness in contact dermatitis in an experiment using a contact dermatitis animal model as an animal model. Accordingly, it is expected that the composition of the present invention can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition, a cosmetic composition, or a functional food composition for preventing or treating inflammatory skin diseases like contact dermatitis.
