Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for recovering high quality carbon from waste carbon sludge is provided, to remove the ash content by 99% or more and the iron content by 100% from waste carbon sludge generated due to the incomplete combustion in a flame reaction of water for producing hydrogen gas. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of making waste carbon slurry by using waste carbon sludge and water; pulverizing the waste carbon slurry; floatation-treating the pulverized one; ultrasonicating the floated one; and magnetic separating the ultrasonicated product. The concentration of the slurry is 1-5 wt%. Preferably the floatation is carried out by using kerosene as a collector, and Aero Froth 73, MIBC or pine oil as a foaming agent. The magnetic separation is carried out at a slurry concentration of 1-5.5 % with magnetic flux of 1,000-18,000 G.
