Abstract: PURPOSE: A shopfloor line balancing and layout designing technique is provided to correct constitution of the system with regard to learning effect of operators in progressing the production process after building a production system. CONSTITUTION: For the shopfloor line balancing and layout designing technique, an optimal production system is built, various processes and the cycle time for developed products are analyzed, the proper number of operators for maximizing the efficiency of a new line is calculated by using a line balancing method, and then a layout of the shopfloor is decided by a 3D(Dimension) model. For a fist plan, production rate for one day is 114 when cycle time is 210 seconds and 12 operators are input. For a second plan, production rate for one day is 80 when the cycle time is 300 seconds and 8 operators are input. The time for fifth and sixth steps of the first plan is shortened to 180 seconds. The production rate for one day is 133 when the cycle time is 180 seconds.
