Abstract: An extract of Cirsium japonicum sp. and a manufacturing method are provided to prevent premenstrual syndrome and depression. A Cirsium japonicum sp. or a Cirsium japonicum sp. extract having the effects of preventing, relieving or treating premenstrual syndrome or melancholia comprises: a step of freezing root, stem or leaves of melancholia to remove the moisture and obtain powder of Cirsium japonicum sp.; and a step of adding solvent in the powder of Cirsium japonicum sp.. The solvent is water or methanol, and is added in 1 weight%~10 weight%.

Abstract: An Elsholtzia ciliate extract and a manufacturing method for the same are provided to ensure the effects of preventing or treating premenstrual syndrome and melancholia. An Elsholtzia ciliate extract has the effects of preventing, relieving or treating premenstrual syndrome or melancholia is extracted by freeze-drying root, stem or leaves of Elsholtzia ciliate and adding solvent such as water or methanol. The extract is isolated at 60°C~100°C for 0.5 to 3 hours.
