    Abstract: PURPOSE: An optical diffusing sheet for an LCD backlight unit is provided to prevent wear and scratch due to friction and flow between sheets when an LCD backlight moves after assembly. CONSTITUTION: An optical diffusing sheet for an LCD backlight unit comprises a transparent polyester base film(3) and an optical diffusing layer. The base film is coated by using a coating solution in which a coating liquid containing 0.5-1.0 wt.% of slip property material is added in a coating liquid mixing binder resin and different diameter particles.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a light diffusion sheet for a thin backlight unit having a shielding function capable of preventing hot spots on an LCD backlight unit using LED lamps by regularly diffusing or shielding light from the LED lamps by coating fine particles with a thin film and a manufacturing method thereof. The light diffusion sheet for a thin backlight unit given in the present invention includes: a transparent polyester base film; and a light diffusion layer formed on at least one surface of the film. The light diffusion layer is formed by applying binder resin and a mixture of particles having different diameters and making the particles form a single layer in the binder resin. For the light diffusion sheet for a thin backlight unit described above, binder resin and a mixture of particles having different diameters are applied on the surface of the base film to form a single layer of particles having different diameters. As a result, since the thickness of coating is reduced by 5-7μm compared to the existing light diffusion sheet, the present invention is able to enhance brightness and shielding performance, thereby resolving the problem of the existing light diffusion sheet that the coating layer is too thick to be used for a thin backlight unit.
