PURPOSE: Conventional nanoemulsions have defects of stickiness and instability, etc. Nanoemulsions comprising ester mixture of fatty acid or alcohol, carboxylic acid and glycerol and their use for cosmetics, dermatological and/or ophthalmological are provided. CONSTITUTION: A nanoemulsions comprise a detergent selected from ester mixtures of fatty acid or alcohol, carboxylic acid and glycerol, and at least an oil having molecualr weight of over 400, wherein the volume of oil based on the volume of detergent is 2 through 10 in the weight ratio and mean size of the oil spheres is below 100nm. The detergent used in the emulsion is, for example, mixture of C8-C22 fatty acid or fatty alcohol, -hydroxy acid and/or succinic acid and glycerol. The emulsions are transparent and highly stable enough to be stored. The emulsions further provide excellent properties as cosmetics while containing much oil. The emulsions are used for cosmetics; and in the fields of dermatology such as moisturization of skin and/or mucosa and treatment of hair; and ophthalmology such as eye lotion for treatment of eye.
