Abstract: PURPOSE: A modulation method for low power communication in an underwater sensor network and a transmitting device using the same are provided to transmit a PSK signal to only a half of a symbol signal and process the other half as a silence section. CONSTITUTION: An underwater sensor network modulates a PSK signal into two of orthogonal symbols to transmit the modulated symbols. A method for low power communication in the underwater sensor network includes a stage for forming two of half cycle signals by using first bit information and a stage for transmitting the PSK signal of a (log)-1 bit. A silence section is determined by using the first bit. A transmitting signal is transmitted as a signal including position information about the modulated signal and symbol. The band efficiency of PSSK(Phase Silence Shift Keying) is a half of PSK. A receiver structure of the PSSK uses a synchronized system.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An underwater sound communication method using a DSSS(direct-sequence spread-spectrum) method is provided to reduce interference between symbols generated in multiple channels in wireless communication by using the DSSS method. CONSTITUTION: A transmission unit spreads the band of a data signal according to a DSSS method. The transmission unit spreads the band of the data signal by multiplying a signal modulated by a QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) method by a PN(pseudo noise) code generated from a PN code generator. The transmission unit transmits band spread data information to a reception unit. The reception unit reversely spreads a signal received from the transmission unit through a channel environment by multiplying the signal by the PN code.
