Abstract: 본 발명의 도파로형 광대역 광아이솔레이터는 기본 동작 파장을 λ라 하였을 때, 제1 도파로를 전파하는 제1 광파와 제2 도파로를 전파하는 제2 광파와의 위상차를 3π/2로 하는 상반 이상기와, 순방향 전파파에 대하여 π/2, 역방향 전파파에 대하여 -π/2의 위상차를 부여하는 비상반 이상기를 구비하고 있다. 이에 따라, 역방향 손실의 파장 의존성을 저감시키고, 이용 가능한 동작 파장 영역을 넓힐 수 있으며, 장거리 광섬유 통신에 사용되는 1.31㎛대와 1.55㎛대의 2개의 파장대에 있어서도 동작한다.

Abstract: A waveguide type wideband optical isolator comprising a reciprocal phase shifter for setting a phase difference of 3'/2 between a first light wave propagating on a first waveguide and a second light wave propagating on a second waveguide when the basic operating wavelength is U, and a nonreciprocal phase shifter for imparting a phase difference of '/2 to a forward propagation wave and a phase difference of-'/2 to a reverse propagation wave. With such an arrangement, wavelength dependency of reverse loss is reduced and an available operating wavelength region can be widened. The optical isolator operates in two wavelength bands of 1.31 mum band and 1.55mum band which are employed in long distance optical fiber communication.
