Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing a nitrodiphenylamine from a nitrohalogenobenzene and an aromatic amine in a high selectivity and in a high yield. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises reacting the nitrohalogenobenzene with the aromatic amine in the presence of a base and a palladium catalyst. Therein, an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal carboxylates or the like which are preliminarily crushed and/or dried before used are used as the base, and a palladium phosphine complex or one or more other palladium complexes are used as the palladium catalyst. By the hydrogenation, the obtained nitrodiphenylamine can be transferred into a corresponding aminodiphenylamine, that is, 4-aminodiphenylamine (4-ADPA) is obtained by hydrogenation of 4-nitrodiphenylamine.
