Abstract: PURPOSE: A projection system is provided, constructed in such a manner that a dichroic filter is not configured of cube prism type but manufacture on a flat plate to improve color breakup characteristic and easily fabricate dichroic filter components, thereby raising the productivity of projection system. CONSTITUTION: A projection system includes an illuminating system(10) for selecting S-polarizing beam from polarizationless white light, a projection unit(20) for, when a beam including an image is inputted, projecting the beam to a screen to form the image, and the first color selecting polarization plate(CS1) for transmitting the S-polarizing beam, polarizing a beam with respect to one of R, G, B components to P-wave. The system further has a polarizing beam splitter(30) for transmitting the beam polarized to the P-wave without any change and reflecting remaining components to change the traveling directions of the remaining components, and a dichroic filter(40) for dividing the two components reflected by the polarizing beam splitter to make optical paths of the transmitted portion and reflected portion be different from each other. The system also has an LCD(50) for providing images respectively corresponding to the component of the beam transmitted through the polarizing beam splitter and the components of the beams divided by the dichroic filter, and the second color selecting polarization plate(CS2) for maintaining the polarization state of the beam that passed through the polarizing beam splitter be identical to the polarization state of other beams to provide the beam that passed through the polarizing beam splitter to the projection unit when the divided R, G, B component beams including the images are reflected by the LCD.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A projection system using a visible region filter having a color compensating function is provided to include a gamut of an EBU(European Broadcasting Union) in a gamut of a projection display by improving green of the projection display, and reduce stress of a color dividing and synthesizing system.
