PURPOSE: A digital broadcast transmission and reception apparatus and method for processing stream thereof are provided to maintain the compatibility with an existing digital broadcasting transmission and reception system. CONSTITUTION: An SRS(Supplementary Reference Signal) unit(340) inserts an additional signal into a transport stream, and an RS(Reed-Solomon) encoding unit(350) performs an RS encoding operation of the transmission stream. An interleaving unit(360) interleaves the encoded transmission stream, and a trellis encoding unit(370) performs a trellis-encoding operation of the interleaved transmission stream. A compatible parity generating unit(380) generates parity according to an ignition operation of the trellis encoding unit.

A method for constructing a digital broadcasting transport stream packet to improve receiving performance, a digital broadcasting transmitter and a signal processing method of the digital broadcasting transmitter are provided to improve digital broadcasting receiving performance in a poor multipath channel and maintain compatibility with the existing digital broadcasting transceiver system. A method for constructing a digital broadcasting transport stream packet including a header and a payload inserts known supplementary reference sequence data for synchronization into the digital broadcasting transport stream packet. The digital broadcasting transport stream packet further includes an adaptation field. The supplementary reference sequence data is inserted into at least a part of the adaptation field. The adaptation field includes an option field corresponding to at least one of a program clock reference, an original program clock reference, macro countdown, a transport private data length and an adaptation field extension length.

PURPOSE: A signal processing device, a display device, a display system, and a signal processing method are provided to normally process the transfer stream packet. CONSTITUTION: A signal processing unit (100) comprises a physical layer (110), a converter (120) and a serial interface unit (130). The physical layer is connected to the external communication network. The serial interface unit connects the physical layer and the display device. The converter converts a signal, which will be transmitted to a media access control unit of the display device in the physical layer, and provides the signal to the serial interface unit. CONSTITUTION: A MUX(Multiplexer) unit comprises a TS(Transport Stream) MUX(310) and a TS post MUX(320). The MUX unit configures a TS including a stream and supplementary information used in processing of the stream. A RS(Reed-Solomon) encoder(350) performs RS encoding of the TS. An interleaver(360) interleaves the RS-encoded TS. A trellis encoder(370) performs trellis encoding of the interleaved TS.

An apparatus for recording video in order to perform a time shift function is provided to allocate a tuner according to preset reference and adjust a recording progress state for time shift, thereby recording the image. One of the first tuner and the second tuner performs a tuning operation with respect to a changed channel based on time information of each channel received in the first and second tuners. A recording progress state is adjusted with respect to an image of each channel received to the first and second tuners according to the time information of each channel received in the first and second tuners. A channel received in the first tuner is tuned if power is applied. The second tuner is determined as a redundancy tuner which is not used and the changed channel is tuned if the channel is changed.

A method and an apparatus for converting the format of a data stream, and a method and an apparatus for recoding the data stream by using the same are provided to omit a de-multiplexing procedure for a program stream in the process of converting a program stream into a transmission stream. A SCR(System Clock Reference) and a program multiplexing rate are extracted from a pack header included in a program stream pack(S410). Data types of PES(Packetized Elementary Stream) packets included in a pack are determined by using a stream identifier extracted from a PES packet header of the pack(S420). The PES packets are divided according to the size of a transport stream packet if the determined data type corresponds to video data or audio data. A transport stream packet header is added to the divided PES packet, thereby forming a sequential transport packet. A PCR(Program Clock Reference) of an adaptive field included in an initial transport stream packet of the sequential transport packet is identically set as the extracted SCR.

본 발명은 복수의 PIP화면의 디스플레이 방법 및 장치에 관한 것으로 소정의 채널에 대한 정지 화상을 획득하고, 화면의 정지 화상 영역에 획득한 정지 화상을 디스플레이하고 화면의 동화상 영역에 상기 정지 화상들 중 적어도 하나를 동화상으로 디스플레이하고, 디스플레이된 정지 화상들을 한쪽 방향으로 이동시키면서 디스플레이함으로써 PIP 화면을 다수 표시하면서도 정지화상 동화상들이 스스로 이동하게 하여 시청자가 주화면에 집중하면서도 원하는 채널을 선택할 수 있게 해준다. 또한, 본 발명에 따르면, PIP 화면의 동영상을 부드럽게 이동시킴으로써 사용자에게 편안한 화면을 제공하는 효과가 있다.

수신 성능 향상을 위한 디지털 방송용 전송 스트림 패킷의 구성방법과 디지털 방송 송신기 및 그의 신호 처리방법이 제안된다. 본 발명에 따르면, 동기를 위한 알려진(Known) 부가기준신호(SRS: Supplementary Reference Sequence) 데이터 삽입을 위한 스터핑 영역(stuffing region)을 포함하는 전송 스트림 패킷을 구성하고, 스터핑 영역을 포함하는 패킷을 랜덤화하여, 랜덤화된 패킷의 스터핑 영역에 부가기준신호(SRS) 데이터를 삽입하고, 부가기준신호(SRS) 데이터가 삽입된 패킷에 오류정정을 위한 패리티를 부가한다. 또한, 패리티가 부가된 패킷에 대해 인터리빙을 수행하고, 인터리빙된 패킷에 대해 트렐리스 인코딩을 수행하여, 트렐리스 인코딩된 상기 패킷에 세그먼트 동기신호(Segment sync)와 필드 동기신호(Field sync)를 삽입한 후, 동기신호를 삽입한 패킷을 VSB 변조하고 RF 변환하여 전송한다. 부가기준신호(SRS), 스터핑 영역, ATSC VSB, 호환성 패리티
