Abstract: A device and a method for providing TTS(Text-To-Speech) using text division are provided to accept lots of users and offer a high quality service by using the small number of TTS ports in a solution, which performs a TTS function by linking with a UMS(Unified Messaging System) or other telephone networks. Each client module(10-13) divides the text received from the user into sub texts and sequentially requests the TTS of the sub texts. A text distributing module(20) receives and sequentially transfers the sub texts to a TTS engine(30). The text distributing module includes a TTS requestor(21), a message queue(22) receiving and temporarily storing the sub texts of the TTS requestor and outputting the sub text in a FIFO(First Input First Output) mode, and a TTS engine caller(23). The TTS engine caller informs the client module of conversion if the TTS engine successfully converts the sub text.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for automatically upgrading software of a cable modem is provided to automatically upgrade the software of the cable modem in easy and convenient methods, thereby implementing fast and convenient functions as reducing time and cost. CONSTITUTION: A system is designated with an upgrade file corresponding to a kind of an upgraded cable modem, IP addresses of cable modems targeted to execute an upgrade procedure, and an IP address of a TFTP(Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server downloading the upgrade file by the upgraded cable modem(200). The system sequentially obtains and analyzes each of MIB(Management Information Base) information for the cable modems by using an SNMP, and decides whether kinds of the cable modems correspond to upgraded targets(202-206). If so, the system downloads the upgrade file corresponding to the kinds of the cable modems from the TFTP server, and indicates to upgrade the downloaded file by using the SNMP(208-218).
