PURPOSE: An actuator, a stage device, and a light exposure device are provided to overcome spatial restriction by miniaturizing the actuator. CONSTITUTION: A ball screw member(20) includes a ball screw unit(22) and a ball nut unit(23) coupled with a base member(10). A driving member(30) is coupled with the ball nut unit so that the driving member is operated together with the ball nut unit. A first direction displacement member(40) moves in a first direction in connection with the driving member. A wedge member(50) is coupled with the driving member and moves in a second direction. A second direction displacement member(60) is coupled with the wedge member and moves in the second direction.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An actuator resonance tester is provided to test the resonance ratio of actuator arm in a hard disk driver without complicated skill. CONSTITUTION: The tester include actuator arm, pivot, at least one of pendent mass, voice coil, voice coil motor, accelerometer and processor. The pendent mass is formed on the actuator arm for the testing of reading/writing head. Base and test housing are attached at the end of pivot to provide proper boundary condition to pivot for the testing of boundary condition of perfectly framed hard disk driver. The voice coil and voice coil motor make the actuator arm move around the pivot. The accelerometer is fixed on the actuator arm to measure the vertical acceleration of actuator arm. The processor decide the resonance of actuator arm on the basis of measured vertical acceleration. With above mentioned composition, the resonance of actuator arm can be tested without the perfectly framed hard disk driver.

PURPOSE: A solid electrolyte polymer and a polymer actuator are provided to enable low voltage operation and to obtain superior thermal stability and chemical resistance using a cross-linked PVDF-based polymer as the polymer for the actuator. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a polymer actuator comprises the following steps: putting a cross-linking agent into PVDF-based solution after forming the PVDF-based saluting using a PVDF-based polymer powder; forming a cross-linked PVDF polymer membrane through thermal treatment after forming the PVDF-based solution into a membrane shape; coating the cross-linked PVDF-based polymer membrane with a conductive polymer solution(34); and injecting an electrolyte into the PVDF polymer membrane.
Abstract:
A hard disk drive actuator arm 18 which has a finger 22 that extends from a centre portion 24 of the arm 18. The finger 22 has one or more steps 40, 42. The location and depth of the step(s) 40, 42 can be selected to obtain a desired natural resonant frequency of the actuator arm 18. The step(s) 40, 42 also reduces the mass of the arm 18. The lower mass may decrease the data access time and the power consumption of the hard disk drive.

PURPOSE: A hard disc drive base realizing impact damping structure is provided to reduce impact wave and to save cost by supplying non-continuity to base plate and inside of outside wall locating slot at outside wall. CONSTITUTION: A base plate(16) has an outside wall. The outside wall has a slot. A spindle motor(14) is fixed at the base plate(16). A disc(12) is rotated by the spindle motor(14). An actuator arm(22) is fixed at the base plate(16). A head(18) is combined magnetically with the disc and mechanically with the actuator arm(22). A voice coil motor(28) can rotate the actuator arm(22) and transfer the head(18) in relation with the disc(12). A cover(30) is attached at the base plate(16) and covers the disc(12), the actuator arm(22), the voice coil motor(28), and the head(18).

PURPOSE: A bumper for limiting the flow of a head of the hard disk drive is provided to reduce impact generated when the head is slapped on the disk by limiting a distance at which the head can be parted from the surface of the disk. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk drive assembly(10) is equipped with one or more disks(12) rotated by a spindle motor(14). Each disk(12) has a upper surface(18) and a lower surface(19). A multiplicity of heads(20) are coupled magnetically to the disks(12). Each head(20) is mounted on suspensions(22). The heads(20) and the suspensions(22) are generally called a head gimbal assembly(24). The head gimbal assembly(24) is installed at an actuator arm(26) connected at a base plate(16) in a pivot shaft. The actuator arm(26) is equipped with a voice coil(28) connected with a magnet assembly(30) attached to the base plate(16). The disk(12), the head gimbal assembly(24), the actuator arm(26) and the voice coil motor(32) are all installed on the base plate(16) enclosed by a cover plate(34). The base plate(16) comprises a base protrusion(36) located between the base plate(16) and the lowest part of the disk. The cover plate(34) comprises a cover protrusion(38) located between the cover plate(34) and the uppermost part of the disk. Each protrusion is equipped with an elastomeric bumper(40) to buffer the impact of the head gimbal assembly(24).
