    Abstract: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to widen the viewing angle and to display high-definition images by preventing light leakage at the edge of a pixel electrode. An LCD comprises the first substrate(100), the second substrate(200), a liquid crystal layer, pixel electrodes(160) and common electrodes(240). On the first substrate, a plurality of pixel areas(PAs) are defined. The first substrate and the second substrate face each other. The liquid crystal layer, in which liquid crystal is aligned, is inserted between the first substrate and the second substrate. The pixel electrodes respectively are formed at the pixel areas. Each of the pixel electrodes has the first domain dividers(170). The common electrodes are formed on the second substrate. Each common electrode has the second domain dividers(250). The second domain dividers, separated from the first domain dividers, segment each pixel area into a plurality of domains through interaction with the first domain dividers according to the alignment of liquid crystal.

A short pattern(11) is formed between the substrates, and electrically shorts the substrates as forming a closed loop by being adjacent to the sealing pattern.
