Abstract: A display device for displaying a content informing window and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to check content download information simultaneously with other tasks by displaying the content informing window to a screen during content download. A signal receiver(110) receives a broadcasting signal. An output part(170) outputs the received broadcasting signal to the screen. A server connector(130) downloads contents from a server. A content informing window generator(150) generates the content informing window according to the state of a content download. A controller(160) enables the output part to display the content informing window to a predetermined area of the screen displaying the broadcasting signal. The content informing window includes the first informing window indicating content download progress, the second informing window indicating completion of the content download, and the third informing window indicating other content notifications.

Abstract: A broadcast reception apparatus for providing supplemental information and a method thereof are provided to make a user to view detailed content and download contents without entering every menu in order to receive the supplemental information. An input unit(110) has a ticker shortcut key. A signal reception unit(120) receives a broadcasting signal and supplemental information. A signal processing unit(140) processes the broadcasting signal and outputs it onto a screen. The signal processing unit displays the supplemental information on one side of the screen in a ticker manner. When the ticker shortcut key is selected, a control unit(130) controls the signal processing unit so that it outputs detailed information of the supplemental information onto the whole screen. A communication unit exchanges data with a server for providing the supplemental information. The control unit requests the detailed information of the supplemental information to the server if the ticker shortcut key is selected, and controls the communication unit so that it provides the detailed information to the signal processing unit if the detailed information is received.
