    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for analyzing a multimedia packet in real time on the Internet is provided to classify RTP(Real-Time Transport Protocol) packets in real time, which are used in a multimedia traffic. CONSTITUTION: A network packet collecting unit collects packets from the Internet(100). A packet filter unit filters only packets using a UDP(User Datagram Protocol) among the collected packets(102). A data packet classifying unit checks whether the filtered packets use a well-known port, and discriminates packets which do not use the well-known port(106). A plug-in unit extracts fundamental information from the discriminated packets(110). The plug-in unit checks whether extracted fundamental information is identical to the characteristic of an RFT packet over the number of uniform times, and classifies the RTP packet among the discriminated packets(140,142).
