An image sensor according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a pixel array including a plurality of sub-pixel groups, each of which includes a plurality of sub-pixels for generating a sub-pixel signal corresponding to one photocharge accumulated in response to a photon; and a low drive block for generating a first control signal to control action of the pixel array, wherein the first control signal controls the plurality of sub-pixels included in the same sub-pixel group to accumulate the photocharge from a first time point to a second time point. Therefore, according to the image sensor of the embodiment of the present invention, an image distortion caused by a time difference in photocharge accumulation can be eliminated by enabling sub-pixels in a sub-pixel group having a binary output to accumulate photocharge at the same time.

PURPOSE: An image sensor capable of improving the quality of sensed image, an image sensing method, and an image taking device including the image sensor sense color information and depth information with different exposure times. In that way, a pixel signal of enough size is sensed. CONSTITUTION: A pixel array (PA) includes color pixels sensing visible ray and depth pixels sensing reflection ray. A shuttering unit (SHUT) resets the color pixel at a color tint unit, reads the reset color pixel at the color tint unit, and senses a color pixel signal. The shuttering unit resets the pixel at a depth tint unit which is different from the color tint time, reads the reset pixel at depth tint unit, and senses a depth pixel signal.

PURPOSE: A depth sensor and a method for reducing noise thereof are provided to reduce noise, by setting a filter gain using first depth to a target object and intensity of a reflected optical signal. CONSTITUTION: A calculation unit calculates first depth to a target object and intensity of a reflected optical signal by using filtered pixel signals (S20). When the first depth is larger than a first depth threshold value, a filter gain adjustment unit sets up the filter gain high (S30,S40). When the first depth is smaller than the first depth threshold value and the intensity is larger than an intensity threshold value, the filter gain adjustment unit sets up the filter gain according to the first depth (S50,S60). When the target object moves, the filter gain adjustment unit resets pixel signals (S70,S80). When the intensity is smaller than the intensity threshold value, the filter gain adjustment unit sets up the filter gain high (S90).

PURPOSE: An image sensor for obtaining both a color image and a depth image, an operating method thereof, and an image processing system with the same are provided to prevent lowering of quality of the color image due to ununiform distribution of a color pixel. CONSTITUTION: A light source(50) irradiates modulation light to a target object(52). A plurality of pixels include at least one pixel which outputs pixel signals according to light reflected from the target object in response to gate signals with a fixed phase difference from the modulation light. An image processing unit(17) simultaneously generates a color image and a depth image from the pixel signals of at least one pixel.

PURPOSE: A distance sensor, a three-dimensional image sensor, and a method for calculating a distance using the same are provided to detect the quantity of electric charge and to measure a change of the detected quantity of electric charge. CONSTITUTION: A method for calculating a distance using a distance sensor and a three-dimensional image sensor is as follows. Light is periodically transmitted to a target object by periodically turning on/off a light source(S310). The light reflected from the target object is entered into an optical detection unit(S320). The time in which the entered light is detected is variously adjusted(S330).
