Abstract: An apparatus and a method for storing contents in a portable terminal when a user of the portable terminal searches the contents are provided to store contents in a storing location according to the classification and confirm a service provided through codec. A communications unit(102) receives contents. A memory unit(104) includes predetermined storage location by the classification of the contents. An extension confirmation device(106) confirms the extension of the contents if it receives the contents. The contents are stored according to extension in the storage location of the classification. The contents stored in the extension confirmation device uses only the extension of the contents and the contents discriminating unit(108). The service which the contents provide is confirmed through the codec according to extension.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting contents in a portable terminal which selectively receives and searches contents through the local area network are provided to receive metadata information of the searched contents selectively. Abstract: A character input method and an apparatus of a mobile terminal are provided to input various types of information mapped to keys without changing an input mode in inputting characters.
