Abstract: A data transceiving method in a communication system and a system thereof are provided to decide whether a USI(Universal Service Interface) is supported by using information on a network which a user accesses, and to offer different IM(Instant Messaging) services according to the decided results, thereby supplying a more convenient user interface to the user. An IM server checks whether a network which an MS(Mobile Station)2 accesses supports a USI(513). If so, the IM server provides an IM service capable of communicating with login/logout state MSs(515). The IM server receives a paging request from the MS2(517), and demands a paging process to an MS1(519). The IM server demands a login process to the MS1 which is transferred to an active mode(521), and checks whether the MS1 accepts the login process(523). If so, the IM server updates state information of the MS1(525), and maintains an active IM session as transceiving IM service data between the MS1 and the MS2(527).
