Abstract: An apparatus for detecting the moving direction and velocity of equipment using a single sensor includes a converting unit which converts sensing information obtained from a single sensor into a voltage value corresponding to the movement of the equipment; a determination unit which determines the generation of a first interrupt generated when the converted voltage value reaches a critical value or a second interrupt generated when preset time passes from the operation time point of the single sensor; and a calculating unit which calculates the moving direction or velocity of the equipment using the voltage information before the preset time from the generation time point of the interrupt and the voltage information at the generation time points of the first interrupt or the second interrupt.
