Abstract: A method providing azimuth sensing and non-contact switching which automatically controls the power of a display, and a portable device using the method are provided to provide a power supplying control function of a display through a mounting angle of a flux gate sensor. A sensor unit(120) outputs the sensor signal by taking the earth magnetism and system inside magnetic field. A controller(110) supplies the azimuth measuring control signal or the power management control signal. In case the power management control signal is supplied from a controller, a power manager(140) determines opening and shutting of the handheld device by using the sensor signal. And the power manager controls the power source of the display. In case the azimuth measuring control signal is supplied from the controller, an azimuth measuring unit(150) measures the azimuth of the handheld device by using the sensor signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and a device for controlling tracking of a disc driver are provided to prevent a tracking actuator and an objective lens from being damaged, and control a tracking servo in order to protect the tracking actuator and the objective lens by monitoring a degree that the objective lens escapes from a neutral point. CONSTITUTION: An optical pickup(302) outputs an RF(Radio Frequency) signal of a signal picked up from a disc(301) loaded in the disc driver if the disc driver is driven. An RF amplifier(303) amplifies the RF signal output from the optical pickup and outputs a tracking error signal detected from the RF signal. A servo controller(304) outputs a control signal for driving the tracking actuator and a feed motor(306) based on the tracking error signal output from the RF amplifier. A controller(309) monitors the control signal, and makes the objective lens connecting to the tracking actuator return to the neutral point if the tracking actuator escapes from an operation range.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method is provided to distinguish a CD from a DVD promptly and reliably in an optical disk device by using the size of a zero cross period of a tracking error signal. CONSTITUTION: A reference time(Tr) is set by a zero cross average period generated from a tracking error. Herein, the tracking error is formed by crossing the tracks of each disk. When the disk is inserted, a pickup apparatus of an optical disk device is moved toward left and right for a certain number in a stopped state. A tracking error signal formed by crossing the tracks of the disk is sensed for a certain period. Zero cross period(T1-Tn) per tracking error signal is detected for calculating the average value(Tm) of the zero cross periods. The average value is compared to the reference time. The kind of the disk is decided according to the result of comparison.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A data storage device and an operation method thereof are provided to restore a data page in which an error is generated through a page parity. CONSTITUTION: A reading-requested data strip is determined(S100). If the reading-requested data strip is an error data strip, other strips in a strip to which the reading-requested data strip belongs are read(S110). A restored data strip is outputted by using the data strips except for the error data strip(S130). The restored data strip and other data strips are recorded in a storage medium(S140). If an error of the reading-requested data strip cannot be corrected by an ECC(Error Correction Code) generating unit, the reading-requested data strip is determined as the error data strip.

Abstract: A moire-removing device of the digital imaging instrument and a method there are provided to secure clearness of an image by controlling a light path controller only when moire generation possibility is great of when the moire is generated. A moire-removing device comprises a moire sensor(102) and a light path controller(101). The moire sensor determines whether moire is generated or not by using an image frequency of a preview image and a spatial frequency of an image sensor(104). If the moire sensor determined that the moire is generated, the light path controller perform low band pass filtering by changing a path of light applied to the image sensor.
